Our Yasuní Lodge

A family lodge of the Sani community inside Yasuní National Park, open since 2023.

Sinchi Wayra Lodge is a family lodge, run with heart

Sinchi Wayra is Kichwa and means strong wind. With the force of a strong wind, our family as part of the Sani community, with about 800 people, has made a rare decision. We are choosing to protect our home in the Amazon rainforest and founded the Sinchi Wayra lodge in early 2023, after 6 years of building.

We invite you as our guests to be part of this cross-generational family project and bring you closer to the beauty and wonders of the Yasuní national park with a lot of passion, heart and soul. No matter if you are a family with young children, a solo adventurer or an elderly couple, we will spoil you with excellent traditional food, days full of wildlife and stunning views of the river and rainforest.

Yasuní is warm all year and it rains in every month. March to June is the wettest time, July to February a little drier. When to go, and what to pack.

From above: the premium cabins in the garden and the main building with the standard rooms.
With the extra beds we provide on request, they can fit your whole family.

The lodge today

Today the lodge has seven free-standing cabins in our tropical garden and four standard rooms in the main building, all with a private bathroom. We built five cabins in 2025 and two more in 2026, because more and more guests wanted to stay with us. See the room options.

Meals are served in our dining area: a breakfast buffet in the morning and traditional food for lunch and dinner, made with produce from Sani family farms and the Coca market. Fresh drinking water, coffee and tea are there all day, and the coffee beans are grown locally.

Lunch and dinner come to the table on plates: Ecuadorian dishes with produce from Sani family farms.
Our breakfast buffet provides coffee, tea, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, eggs and changing specials.
A fresh water dispenser (don't forget your refillable bottle), coffee and tea is available all-day at the dinner area. The coffee beans are locally sourced.

By booking a unique stay at Sinchi Wayra, you are supporting our mission to protect the Amazon rainforest and the Kichwa culture of the Sani people. All revenues from the lodge go towards fair wages for the staff, the further development of the lodge, school and infrastructure projects for the Sani community and a training program for prospective guides.

Our guides are naturalists from this community and speak Spanish, English and Kichwa. Your days will be filled with dazzling experiences. From piranha fishing to watching macaws, from climbing to the top of a canopy tower to spotting unique and indigenous animals on our jungle walks. We strive to offer the experience you are looking for.

We look forward to hosting you and we welcome you to Sinchi Wayra, our family lodge in the Amazon rainforest.

We, the indigenous Gualinga family, operate the lodge with Edwin (grey shirt) as a general manager. We are part of the Sani community, that populates the region since centuries and are deeply connected to the flora and fauna to provide our guests an authentic Amazon experience.

Getting to Sinchi Wayra lodge

The lodge lies 85 km down the Napo River from the city of Coca, inside Yasuní National Park, and can only be reached by motorised canoe. Coca has its own airport, Francisco de Orellana (OCC): LATAM and Aeroregional fly there daily from Quito (UIO) in about 40 minutes. Book a morning flight that lands before 10:00 AM. Regular buses and rental cars also get you to Coca.

Your guide meets you around 10:00 AM in Coca, at the airport or at our office and tour meeting point in the town centre (Camilo de Torrano y Chimborazo, open in Google Maps). You can leave the luggage you don't need in the jungle at the office and pick it up on the way back.

From Coca it is about two and a half hours on the river. For this long ride we bought a new canoe: faster, with a stronger engine and comfortable full seats.
